Everybody should have a go-to biscuit recipe.
Biscuits can be a carrier for all the breakfast goodies you want – eggs, cheese, sausage, bacon, jam, butter, gravy, whipped cream, fruit, etc. Soooo having a go-to recipe means you don’t have to think too hard about the biscuit and you can get creative and wild with the filling!
In this case, I got creative with the dough itself by adding chourico sausage and cheddar cheese!
Here’s the recipe:
2 links chourico, removed from casing & cooked (we used Wishbone Heritage Farms chourico)
2 cups of flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups shortening
1 cup milk
2 cups of cheddar cheese, grated
Heat oven to 450°F.
Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening with a fork. Create a well in the center and pour the milk into it, stir only until the flour is moistened then mix in the chourico and cheddar! Dollop spoonfuls onto a greased or parchment paper covered pan. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes – until edges are beginning to crisp up and become golden. Remove and serve warm with butter or pickles and slaw!
